Chef Gabriel Balderas has been pouring his heart and soul into his latest venture, but this time around, things look a little different. He temporarily swapped his chef’s coat for a painter’s apron for a project unlike anything we’ve seen him tackle before: The Carousel at the Louisiana Boardwalk.

If you recognize Chef Gabriel, it’s likely from his massive culinary footprint across the area, from seafood hot spot Zuzul Coastal Cuisine to his award-winning staple, El Cabo Verde. His newest venture, The Brine, just celebrated its grand opening inside The Picklr at the Louisiana Boardwalk, but Gabriel also became obsessed with bringing a once-vibrant piece of local history back to life right beside it.

When I asked how much he actually knew about restoring historic carousels before starting, he laughed and admitted he was completely learning as he went.

Now, after weeks of painstaking restorations, permits, and approvals, the grand news we’ve been gunning for is officially here: the carousel is ready to ride!

Grand Opening Event Details:

When: Thursday, October 15, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Where: The Brine (201 Boardwalk Blvd., Bossier City)

Bring the kids out to celebrate bringing a little extra magic back to the Boardwalk! Enjoy open concessions, restaurant specials, and one full hour of FREE carousel rides from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. Grab dinner, sip a drink, let the kids take a spin, and help us welcome this Boardwalk icon back in style.
