I imagine the Good Lord sitting back and watching Tammie here on Earth and he's just beaming with pride at the work he's done with her.

While feeding the less fortunate is Tammie's passion, it's only part of her commitment to those around her. Whether it's through her work with God's Food Pantry, or the Logansport Rummage Sale, or just everyday acts of kindness, Tammie is synonymous with love.

And it's that love we celebrate this week! Of course, we wouldn't have learned of this beautiful human if her friend, Kim Register, hadn't taken the time to tell us about Tammie.

Just look at what Kim had to say about Tammie and you'll see just how easy it was to name her this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.

Tammie Averett is not just the Director of God’s Food Pantry; she is its heart and backbone. Week after week, she dedicates countless hours ensuring everything runs smoothly often behind the scenes and without recognition. From picking up and organizing boxes, ordering food, managing deliveries, checking temperatures, and overseeing distribution, she makes sure that even when the pantry doors are closed, the work continues. Her commitment ensures that no detail is overlooked and no need goes unmet. Tammie knows our neighbors by name. She treats every person who walks through our doors with dignity, compassion, and genuine care. Her generosity extends far beyond the pantry. In her personal time, Tammie rescues stray animals, especially dogs and quietly helps elderly women provide food for their pets. She never seeks recognition for these acts of kindness; she simply sees a need and fills it. Even with an already full schedule, she continues to serve her community by running a rummage sale in Logansport, caring for her family, supporting her husband, and preparing to become a grandmother. Recently, she also accepted the Public Service Award from the Desoto Parish Chamber of Commerce on behalf of God’s Food Pantry, yet another testament to her impact. Tammie Averett doesn’t just serve, she leads with love, humility, and unwavering dedication. She is truly “caught in the act” of making the world a better place every single day.
