SHREVEPORT, LA – The final election results are in for several races in northwest Louisiana.
Who Won the Congressional Races in Louisiana?
Republican Steve Scalise is the easy winner in the 1st Congressional District while Democrat Troy Carter holds on to his seat in the 2nd District. Republican Clay Higgins runs away with the race to hold onto his seat in the 3rd Congressional District, garnering more than 70% of the vote.
Does House Speaker Mike Johnson Win Easily?
House Speaker Mike Johnson had just one challenger in the 4th, but it was not contest. Johnson is sent back with more than 85% support. Republican Julia Letlow holds on to her 5th Congressional District seat winning with more than 60% of the vote. In the newly drawn 6th Congressional race which stretches from Baton Rouge to Shreveport, it looks like Democrat Cleo Fields will win the seat outright. He pulled in just over 51% of he vote. Republican Elbert Guillory finished 2nd with 38%.

Town of Benton Election Results
Republican James Friday has been elected Mayor of Benton. He beat fellow Republican Ken Shiflett in a landslide winning 65% of the votes.
Steve Collier keeps his job as Chief of Police in Benton. He won 71% of the vote against his challenger Mark Crouch.
In the race for Alderman for District 2, Tiffany Manning, the incumbent is headed to a runoff. She got 48% of the vote. The 2nd place finisher was fellow Democrat Demetrie Turks who got 36% of the vote. Former TV newsman Chris Redford finished 3rd in the race with 16% of the vote.
Town of Haughton Election Results
Republican Hunter Timms has been elected the new mayor of the town of Haughton. He will take over from Kim Gaspard. Timms won 59% of the vote to fellow Republican Klay Harrison with 28% and another Republican Larkin Tidwell who garnered 12%.

The top 5 vote getters are elected to the Town Council:
Matthew Kinney (IND) 16%
Doug Adams (REP) 15%
Buck McGee, Jr. (REP) 14%
Michael Rains (REP) 12%
Jordan Chreene (REP) 13%
Incumbents Colby Isom and Phillip Smith finished 6th and 7th while Troy Bencke and Blake Laliberte finished at the back of the pack.
Todd Gibson is easily re-elected Chief of Police in Haughton. He won 89% of the vote. Richard Wheeler got 11%.
Plain Dealing Election Results
Independent James Cook faces Shelia Player in a runoff. Neither got the necessary 50% of the vote.
Democrat Emily Barr Jennings is elected Alderman for District 2 with 61% of the vote to 39% support for no party candidate Marmekia Akins.
Who Won the Baton Rouge Mayor’s Race?
Incumbent Democratic Mayor Sharon Weston Broome has been locked in a battle to hold on to her seat and it looks like she’s headed to a showdown in a runoff next month with Republican Sid Edwards. Edwards led the field of 8 candidates with 34% of the vote. Broome got 31%.
Edwards is known as “Coach Sid” in Baton Rouge. He is currently the Dean of Students and Head Football Coach at Istrouma High School. He says he has a plan to “Save Baton Rouge” and part of that plan is to hire 100 new police officers right away.

Presidential Election Results in Louisiana
In the Presidential race in Louisiana, Donald Trump won the state with more than 64% of the vote to about 35% for Kamala Harris.
