The Shreveport Police Department is continuing their efforts to get guns out of the hands of felons and others who shouldn't have them.

Earlier this week Shreveport Police conducted a traffic stop involving several traffic violations on a vehicle driven by 25 year-old Jacoby Fraizer.

While Officers were conducting the stop, they discovered that Fraizer was armed with a gun. After running Fraizer's name through the system, Officers discovered that Fraizer is a convicted felon and is prohibited from having a gun in his possession due to a prior conviction of aggravated assault with a firearm.

Shreveport Police have been working non-stop to get guns out of felon and criminal hands. SPD has expressed the importance of doing this to prevent further violent crime.

From SPD:

"This arrest represents the type of proactive policing that helps reduce violent crime in our community. An armed felon with a previous gun-related conviction was safely taken off the streets — an outstanding job by our officers."
