LSU Football’s Top 15 All-Time Passing Leaders
The football program at LSU is recognized as one of the greatest ever.
Look, they've been playing football for over 130 years, and have won 4 National Championships. They've won 16 Conference Championships, and 10 Division Titles. Not to mention all of the Heisman Trophy winners and NFL talent the program has produced.
But with all of this football success, there's one odd thing about LSU football. One major statistic that seems...off when you look at a school with as much success as LSU. That's the career passing yardage leaders.
Schools with far less success have better career leaders, players with higher yardage totals than LSU's leaders. There are schools with as much (if not more) success than LSU who also have higher passing leaders.
Schools like USC, Texas, Oregon, and Cincinnati are among the schools that have had multiple passers with over 10,000 passing yards in their career. They're not the only schools, but represent a good mix of programs that have as much success as LSU, and ones that don't. Oh, and Louisiana Tech is also one of the schools with two 10,000 yard career passers.
No LSU quarterback has thrown for over 10,000 yards in their career. Not JaMarcus Russell, not Joe Burrow. In fact, neither of those two names top the LSU career passing list. In fact, the top 15 names on LSU's career passing leader list are ones that casual LSU fans probably wouldn't even recognize.
There are only 4 names in the top15 that have played at LSU over the last decade, which does include two Heisman Trophy winners. But neither of those Heisman winners top the list.
